Thuy Dinh
Current Course: BA in Business and Commerce
Born to a poor rural family in the Mekong Delta whose situation was made worse by her father’s illness. Supported by Room to Read from Grades 6-12. Commuted 90 minutes each way to school every day.
Thuy Dinh has since co-founded an organization called Go Books to promote a culture of reading amongst secondary school students.
She is now completing a BA in Business and Commerce, and studying computer science and English. Supported by The Relay Fund, which also helped her to find one other scholarship.
Goals
Become “a great saleswoman” in the travel/tourism industry
Establish a craft making micro-enterprise in her home village so that young women have a way to build a better future for themselves (many of them now marry men who live overseas without ever having me them in person as a way to advance economically).
