Tay Thi Nguyen funded her university education through a scholarship and part-time work.

Accomplishments

• First in her family to complete high school

• Overcame extreme poverty and family pressure to drop out of school

• Graduated from Long An Teacher Training College

• Earned a Bachelor's Degree in English Education from Sai Gon University - studying by night, while still working in the day as a primary school teacher!

• Earns $450 a month
