Career: Social Welfare

When Shri Puja Rani Bormon earned admission to the University of Dhaka, one of Bangladesh’s most prestigious institutions, it was the opportunity of a lifetime—but it came with significant challenges. Moving away from home, she struggled to manage living expenses and daily necessities, and for her father, who carried the weight of the family’s financial responsibilities, the costs were overwhelming. Just as continuing her education felt uncertain, she received the U-GO scholarship, in partnership with the JAAGO Foundation—a turning point that lifted the financial burden and gave her the chance to pursue her studies with confidence.

“The scholarship has been a lifesaver,” Puja shares. “It’s allowed me to focus on my studies without the constant worry of how to cover my basic needs. Thanks to this support, I am able to continue my university journey with confidence and peace of mind.”

Puja is now channeling her passion for service into her 60-day fieldwork with ESDO (Eco-Social Development Organization), where she is gaining valuable hands-on experience as a social worker. Inspired by the impact she’s seen, she dreams of building a career in the development sector, working for an NGO to drive social change and empower vulnerable communities. With U-GO’s support, Puja is not only shaping her own future but also preparing to make a meaningful difference in the lives of countless others across Bangladesh.
