Career: Space Science & Technology

Maheen, a recent graduate of the University of Karachi with a degree in Space Science and Technology, has always been fascinated by the mysteries of space and the possibilities of discovery. From a young age, she dreamed of working on space missions, satellite technology, and astrophysics, determined to pursue a career where she could contribute to Pakistan’s growing role in space research and innovation. Her journey has been shaped not only by passion but also by perseverance, and a key turning point came when she received the U-GO scholarship, in partnership with DIL.

The scholarship didn’t just provide financial relief—it opened doors to professional development opportunities, networking, and skill-building experiences that strengthened Maheen’s confidence and expanded her vision for what was possible. With U-GO’s support, she was able to focus on her academics while building a foundation for a future in aerospace engineering and space technology.

Now, Maheen is working on her thesis on Convergent-Divergent Nozzles, a critical component in aerospace propulsion systems, and has applied for an internship with SUPARCO—Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission—to gain hands-on experience. Her ultimate goal is to work with SUPARCO or the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP), contributing to cutting-edge space research and helping Pakistan take bold strides in innovation and exploration. Through U-GO’s support, Maheen is not just chasing her dream—she is preparing to push boundaries, break barriers, and inspire the next generation of women in STEM.
